Zusammenfassung:	The liquid crystal aligning agent contains a polymer (A) having a structural unit derived from at least one monomer selected from the group consisting of a compound represented by formula (1) and a compound represented by formula (2). In the formula, R1 and R2 represent a ring structure in which one of R1 and R2 is a monovalent group having a polymerizable group and the other is a hydrogen atom or a monovalent organic group, or R1 and R2 are bonded to each other and together with a nitrogen atom to which R1 and R2 are bonded. Wherein the ring structure has a polymerizable carbon-carbon unsaturated bond. A1 is a monovalent organic group, and A2 is a hydroxyl group or a monovalent organic group. 0 < = n1 + n2 < = 8. 使液晶取向剂含有聚合物(A)，所述聚合物(A)具有源自选自由式(1)所表示的化合物及式(2)所表示的化合物所组成的群组中的至少一种单体的结构单元。式中，R1及R2表示R1及R2中的一者为具有聚合性基的一价基、另一者为氢原子或一价有机基，或者R1及R2彼此结合而与R1及R2所键结的氮原子一起构成的环结构。其中，环结构具有聚合性碳-碳不饱和键。A1为一价有机基，A2为羟基或一价有机基。满足0≦n1+n2≦8。
