The system comprises a banknote conveying channel used for conveying banknotes, a banknote inspection module arranged on the banknote conveying channel and a control system used for controlling the banknote inspection module to work, and the banknote inspection module comprises a first multispectral light source module, an illumination signal acquisition module and a second multispectral light source module which are fixedly installed on the banknote conveying channel. The first multispectral light source module and the illumination signal acquisition module are arranged on the same side of the banknote conveying channel, and the illumination signal acquisition module and the second multispectral light source module are arranged on the two sides of the banknote conveying channel respectively. And the illumination signal acquisition module is used for receiving and acquiring a reflected light signal generated when the first multispectral light source module irradiates the paper money, or receiving and acquirin
