The invention relates to a method for changing a linear pole of a 10kV overhead line into a strain pole and additionally installing a switch, which comprises the following steps of: 1, carrying out insulation shielding on a lead, a linear pole insulator and a cross arm, 2, installing a strain clamp and a strain insulator string, the method comprises the steps of (1) installing a strain clamp, (2) installing a strain insulator string, (3) installing an insulating tightener to realize connection between the strain clamp and the strain insulator string and ensure that the strain insulator string bears tension of a lead, (4) installing a pole switch, (5) measuring current of the lead, and (6) loosening the insulating tightener to realize that the strain insulator string bears all tension of the lead and then removing an insulating shield.
