Zusammenfassung:A head-mounted near-eye display system includes a stack of waveguides having integrated spacers that separate the waveguides. The waveguides may each include a diffractive optical element formed simultaneously with the spacer by imprinting or casting. Spacers are disposed on one or more major surfaces of the waveguides and define a distance between directly adjacent waveguides. Adjacent waveguides may be bonded using an adhesive on the spacer. The spacer may fit within the indentation of the upper layer waveguide. In some cases, the spacers may form one or more material walls that substantially surround a perimeter of the associated waveguide. Vent holes may be provided in the wall to allow gas to flow into and out of the interior volume defined by the spacer.
