The present invention relates to compounds of formula (I). The compounds are useful for modulating the acetyl-CoA synthetase short chain 2 (ACSS2) protein and can thereby treat, ameliorate or prevent a disease selected from the group consisting of cancer, bacterial infections, viral infections, parasitic infections, fungal infections, neurodegenerative diseases, neurological disorders, cerebrovascular diseases, cardiovascular diseases, non-alcoholic fatty liver diseases and obesity.
