Zusammenfassung:	The invention relates to the technical field of EGR cooling systems, in particular to a parallel EGR cooling system and method. The cooling system comprises an EGR cooler, a bypass water way and a controller; the EGR cooler and the bypass water way are arranged in parallel; a parallel pipeline formed by the EGR cooler and the bypass water way is connected with an engine cooling water way in series; a temperature sensor is arranged at the exhaust end of the EGR cooler; and a water way control valve is arranged at the water inlet end of the bypass water way; and the temperature sensor and the water way control valve are electrically connected with the controller. The cooling system is used in the cooling method, specifically, the temperature of gas cooled by the EGR cooler is monitored, and water flow of the EGR cooler is shunted through the bypass water way. Water flow is distributed through the bypass water way and the EGR cooler, and the problem that the water way resistance is too large due to an EGR system
