The invention discloses a method for measuring the contour of a steel coil, which comprises the following steps of: sequentially determining a plurality of measurement points on a steel coil along the generatrix direction of the steel coil, then acquiring coordinate data of each measurement point, determining a corresponding target smoothing function for processing the coordinate data based on a preset first threshold value; processing coordinate data of the measurement point by using the target smoothing function to obtain a contour adopted value of the measurement point, and then obtaining a contour adopted value of the steel coil in the bus direction.
