Zusammenfassung: | Embodiments of the present disclosure relate to optical based placement of an optical component using a pick-and-place machine. The optical pick-and-place machine is described that includes a self-calibrating optical controller for optical placement of optical components based on error feedback using active alignment. The optical controller may include a loopback mode to generate a baseline value of light generated by the light source and measured by a photodetector within the optical controller. The optical controller may also include an active alignment mode in which light is coupled from the pick-and-place machine to the optics on which the components are placed. The optical coupling of the placed component may be evaluated against a baseline value to ensure that the optical coupling is within specifications (e.g., within a pre-specified range).
