The invention relates to an organic-inorganic heavy metal ion capturing agent and a preparation method thereof. The capturing agent is prepared by the following steps: taking organic activated montmorillonite and modified humic acid as raw materials, and subjecting the raw materials and polyacrylamide to a graft copolymerization reaction, to obtain the grafted organic-inorganic heavy metal ion capturing agent, wherein the organic activated montmorillonite is acid modified montmorillonite grafted by a silane coupling agent, and the modified humic acid is humic acid subjected to activating treatment by using a low-concentration acid solution.
