A methyl tin chloride aqueous solution, an alkali liquor and isooctyl thioglycolate are as reaction raw materials, and a two-step method is adopted for preparation. The method the following steps of: firstly, removing dimethyl tin dichloride in the methyl tin chloride aqueous solution; and 2, preparing the tin methyl trimercaptoacetate heat stabilizer. The method is mild in reaction condition, simple and convenient to operate and high in conversion rate, the high-purity tin methyl trimercaptoacetate heat stabilizer with the purity of 90-99.5% can be prepared, and the product quality is stable.
