Navigation Application Programming Interface

The invention relates to a navigation application programming interface. Navigation application programming interfaces that can be used to obtain navigation information in third party software applications are provided. In one example implementation, an application programming interface (API) can include a first set of instructions associated with a navigator class. The navigator class can specify a plurality of functions to control the implementation of a navigation service by the software application. The navigation service can provide navigation information to a user of the software application. The API can include a second set of instructions associated with a navigator delegate protocol. The navigator delegate protocol can be a delegate of the navigator class.
