Gear characterization parameter data are pre-stored in the electrochromic device. The method comprises the steps: in the process that an initial gear before gear shifting is switched to an initial target gear, acquiring the gear characterization parameter state of an electrochromic device; when a new gear shifting signal is received, acquiring a new target gear and interrupting the current charging or discharging operation; according to the gear characterization parameter state during the interruption operation, and the initial gear and the new target gear or the gear characterization parameter corresponding to the new target gear, determining the charging or discharging direction after the interruption operation and the corresponding gear characterization parameter adjustment value; and adjusting the electrochromic device to switch to a new target gear according to the charg
