The waste lithium ion battery positive electrode material is a waste lithium manganate battery positive electrode material or a waste ternary nickel cobalt lithium manganate battery positive electrode material. The preparation method comprises six steps of reduction leaching of the waste lithium ion battery positive electrode material, precipitation separation of cobalt oxalate, precipitation separation of nickel hydroxide, co-precipitation separation of manganese carbonate and lithium carbonate, preparation of the lithium positive electrode material and preparation of the high-capacity manganese-series lithium ion sieve.
