The invention provides an on-machine detection device and method of a machining center, and relates to the technical field of machining center detection. The on-machine detection device comprises a fixing assembly and a shooting assembly. The fixing assembly comprises a connecting piece used for being connected with a machining center main shaft and a mounting base arranged on the connecting piece. The shooting assembly comprises a camera, a lens, a light source and a wireless module which are arranged on the mounting base. The light source is used for illuminates a workpiece. The camera and the lens are used for shooting the workpiece. The wireless module is electrically connected with the camera and image processing equipment and is used for sending an image shot by the camera to the image processing equipment. The camera, the lens, the light source and the wireless module are arranged on the mounting base to form a whole; and the whole body forms a cutter-like device through the connecting piece. Therefore
