Blockage detection in millimeter wave radio communications includes performing a radio link measurement on one or more reference signals. The radio link measurement is compared to a comparing threshold and a blockage condition is indicated in response to the comparing of the radio link measurement meeting a threshold criterion on the comparing threshold.
