In the light source unit (140), illumination characteristics including at least one among spectral characteristics and light quantity of illumination light, light distribution characteristics, and irradiation timing can be changed. The processing unit (110) sets an illumination characteristic on the basis of assistance information for assisting diagnosis or treatment.
