A variable resistor 50 of the present invention comprises: a substrate 1; a resistive element 5 disposed on the substrate 1; oil 11 applied to a surface 5S of the resistive element 5; and a sliding member 9 that slides on the surface 5S of the resistive element 5 to which the oil 11 is applied, wherein an output is changed according to a change in a position where the sliding member 9 is in contact with the resistive element 5.
