The embodiment of the invention provides a mechanism and method for reducing loss of consumption parts in a plasma cutting machine. The mechanism comprises a plasma cutting machine transverse guide rail and a cutting gun adjusting device arranged on the plasma cutting machine transverse guide rail in a sliding manner, a back plate is arranged on the cutting gun adjusting device, and a driving motor is vertically installed at the top of the back plate; and a lead screw is arranged at the outer side of the back plate, the top end of the lead screw is in transmission connection with the driving motor, linear guide rails are arranged at the positions, located at the two sides of the lead screw, of the back plate, sliding seats are arranged on the linear guide rails in a sliding manner, the sliding seats are in threaded connection with the lead screw, and drilling equipment is vertically installed on the sliding seats. According to the scheme provided by the embodiment of the invention, before the plasma cutting m
