LIGHTING DRIVER AND DRIVE METHOD

A lighting driver has a switch mode power converter, and a detect arrangement for detecting if the driver is in a single mode and connected across the external power source alone or is in a dual mode and connected across the external power source in series with another driver. A valley fill circuit is provided between the power input and the switch mode power converter.
