Zusammenfassung:The present invention provides a method for manufacturing a honeycomb filter capable of improving collection efficiency and suppressing an increase in pressure loss after supporting a catalyst. In the clay preparation step, a cordierite forming raw material contains at least one of porous silica and fused silica, and the cordierite forming raw material and an organic pore-forming material satisfying the relationships of formula (1) and formula (2) are used as the cordierite forming raw material and the organic pore-forming material. D(a)10, D(a)50, and D(a)90 each represent a particle diameter ([mu]m) of 10 vol%, 50 vol%, and 90 vol% from the small diameter side in the cumulative particle size distribution of the cordierite forming raw material, and D(b)50 represents a particle diameter ([mu]m) of 50 vol% from the small diameter side in the cumulative particle size distribution of the organic pore forming material. The organic pore-forming material has D(b)50 of 40 [mu]m or less. Formula (1): D(a)50/(D(a)90-D
