The present invention relates to a longitudinally adjustable connecting rod (1) with a hydraulic control device (13) for bringing about an effective longitudinal change of the connecting rod (1). The hydraulic control device (13) has a hydraulic control valve (19) which comprises a control slide (26) which can be hydraulically activated and is prestressed by means of a control slide spring (34), and two outlet valves (24, 25) which can be activated by the control slide (26) by means of two control contours which are arranged at a distance from one another. The control slide (20) has a low-pressure section (NA) with a low-pressure piston (30) for hydraulically activating the control slide (26). In order to optimise the control slide (26) for such a longitudinally adjustable connecting rod (1), the two control contours are arranged together in a high-pressure section (HA) of the control slide (20), which high-pressure section is arranged with one side on the low-pressure section (NA) and is separated therefrom
