Zusammenfassung:	To provide a novel diester compound that can be used as a fragrance precursor. Provided are: a diester compound that can be used as a fragrance precursor, the diester compound having cyclohexanol or a derivative thereof, an aroma compound having a hydroxyl group, and a diester bond linking the two in the molecule; a fragrance composition containing the diester compound; and a consumer product containing the diester compound or the fragrance composition. Also provided is a method for imparting or enhancing the residual scent of a consumer product, the method including blending the diester compound or the fragrance composition with a consumer product. 本发明的课题在于提供可用作香料前体的新颖的二酯化合物。本发明的解决手段在于提供二酯化合物、含有其的香料组合物、和含有该二酯化合物或香料组合物的消费品，所述二酯化合物在分子内具有环己醇或其衍生物、具有羟基的香气化合物、和连接该两者的二酯键，且可用作香料前体；而且，提供赋予或增强消费品的留香性的方法，所述方法包括将该二酯化合物或香料组合物掺混于消费品中。
