Zusammenfassung:A display device and a method of controlling the display device are provided. When returning from a standby state, an image can be displayed in a short time. A projector (1) is provided with a CPU (10), a first memory (11) which is a volatile memory to be reset when the projector makes the transition to a standby state, and a second memory (12) which is a volatile memory capable of keeping data in the standby state of the projector (1).
