A display control unit of the vehicle control device includes: a driving assistance control unit and a travel control unit that control at least one of steering and speed of a host vehicle on the basis of a peripheral situation of the host vehicle recognized by an external sensor or the like; an external notification unit that notifies a traffic participant recognized by an external sensor or the like of an operation of the vehicle based on the control; an internal notification unit that notifies the driver of the host vehicle of the content of the notification to the traffic participant by the first notification unit; and a notification control unit that performs notification by the interior notification unit when it is known by the external sensor or the like that the host vehicle is located within the predetermined area of the intersection, and otherwise, stops notification by the interior notification unit. Therefore
