The invention discloses a forklift overhead guard impact test device and a test method thereof. The impact test device comprises a test frame assembly, an impact block assembly, a lifting power assembly and an overhead guard assembly to be tested. The overhead guard assembly to be tested is placed in the test frame assembly, and the impact block assembly is hoisted by the lifting power assembly and is positioned right above the overhead guard assembly to be tested. The lifting power assembly realizes ascending, descending and hovering of the impact block assembly through an electric permanent magnet device. Adsorption of the impact block assembly is achieved by powering-on an electric permanent magnetic chuck, release of the impact block assembly is achieved by powering off the electric permanent magnetic chuck, and the labor cost is reduced.
