A smoking article (2) comprises: a heat source (4); an aerosol-forming substrate (6) downstream of the heat source (4); a first heat conducting element (22) around and in direct contact with a rear portion (4b) of the heat source and an adjacent front portion (6a) of the aerosol-forming substrate; and a second heat conducting element (30) surrounding at least a portion of the first heat conducting element (22). At least a portion of the second heat conducting element (30) is radially separated from the first heat conducting element (22).
