METHOD OF PREPARING A MICROCRYSTALLINE CELLULOSE REINFORCED POLYMER COMPOSITE

A method of preparing a microcrystalline cellulose reinforced polymer composite is provided. The method comprises providing discrete pieces of a microcrystalline cellulose, mixing the discrete piecesof the microcrystalline cellulose with a first polyolefin in an organic solvent under agitation, wherein the first polyolefin dissolves at least substantially in the organic solvent and the discrete pieces of microcrystalline cellulose disperses in the organic solvent, to form a dispersion, and precipitating the microcrystalline cellulose reinforced polymer composite from the dispersion using a non-solvent.
