The invention discloses a fan-to-box transformer substation cable butt joint device and a method. The butt joint device comprises a first butt joint plate and a second butt joint plate; a plurality ofgroups of first wire passing holes are formed in the first butt joint plate; a second wire passing holes corresponding to the first wire passing holes are formed in the second butt joint plate; cavities are formed in the two sides of each first wire passing hole and the two sides of each second wire passing hole; a clamping and limiting assembly is arranged in each cavity; the first butt joint plate and the second butt joint plate are connected through a distance adjusting assembly; threaded grooves are formed in the two sides of the top of the first butt joint plate; the two sides of the topof the second butt joint plate are hinged to two sets of fixing plates through two sets of pin shafts correspondingly; and bolts penetrate through the fixing plates.
