The method comprises the steps of applying an external force to electrospray when the electrospray emitted by the colloid electric propulsion system on orbit flies according to the emission direction of the electrospray, and enabling the flight direction of part of the electrospray to deflect, arranging a good conductor electrode in the deflected flight direction, and when part of the electrospray flies to impact the good conductor electrode, collecting a current signal generated by impact until the signal disappears, and processing the current signals to obtain electrospray physical characteristics, and completing electrospray on-orbit detection.
