Zusammenfassung:	In a display device 500, a display panel 501, a reflective polarizing plate 502, a polarization control panel 503, a polarizing plate 504, and an optical layer 505 are disposed in order in a third direction d3 among a first direction d1 to the third direction d3 which intersect each other. The reflective polarizing plate 502 transmits a polarization component of light in the first direction d1 incident on the reflective polarizing plate 502, and reflects a polarization component of the light in the second direction. The polarization control panel 503 can switch between a first state, in whichlight incident on the polarization control panel 503 is transmitted by changing the polarization direction of the light, and a second state, in which the incident light is transmitted while maintaining the polarization direction of the light.
