The invention provides a device-to-device subscriber identity module (SIM) sharing method and an associated device. In an associated apparatus, a customer premises equipment (CPE) is provided that includes a control circuit, a virtual subscriber identity module (SIM), and a wireless communication circuit. When the control circuitry enables a virtual SIM function on the CPE, the wireless communication circuitry establishes a wireless communication link with the cellular telephone network via the virtual SIM.
