The preparation method comprises the following steps of: dissolving or dispersing anthrarufin and a selected catalyst into a pure solvent or a mixed solvent at the same time, stirring to obtain a uniform precursor solution, reacting the reaction solution forseveral hours under a solvothermal condition of a reaction kettle, cooling to room temperature to obtain a crude product dispersion liquid, and finally purifying, drying and dispersing the crude product dispersion liquid to obtain the narrow-spectrum emission red light carbon quantum dot material. The carbon quantum dots designed by the invention have the characteristics of red light emission (emission peak: -615nm), narrow full width at half maximum (FWHM40%).
