Embodiments of the invention disclose a mobile operating unit, an elevator and a method. The invention relates to a mobile operating unit (1) for an elevator, comprising an operating interface (2) manually operable by a user to control movement of an elevator car (5); and an orientation sensor (3) for sensing orientation of the operating unit (1).
