The hot melt adhesive comprises the following raw materials in parts by mass: 30-45 parts of styrene thermoplastic elastomer, 40-55 parts of tackifying resin, 1-4 parts of modified polyethylene wax and 11-21 parts of a mixed additive. The hot melt adhesive is not prone to causing backflow adhesion, the die cutting waste discharge effect can be improved, and the rejection rate of label production using the hot melt adhesive is reduced. The invention further discloses a preparation method of the hot melt adhesive.
