The invention discloses an air leakage detection device for an engine cylinder gasket. The air leakage detection device comprises a nitrogen supply unit, a liquid storage tank, a water pump and a flowmeter. The air leakage detection device further comprises a liquid filling pipeline and a detection pipeline. The liquid charging pipeline is a circulation loop for communicating the liquid storage tank, the water pump and the engine to be tested. The detection pipeline is sequentially communicated with the nitrogen supply unit, the engine, the flow meter and the liquid storage tank. The invention further provides an air leakage detection method.
