The method comprises the steps: acquiring a grayscale image of a to-be-detected bill, wherein background textures of the to-be-detected bill are dense, and the grayscale image comprises an original grayscale image and/or a sharpened grayscale image; processing the grayscale image by adopting a transverse sliding window and/or a longitudinal sliding window to obtain a processed image, and solving at least one non-highlighted connected domain included in the processed image to serve as asmooth area corresponding to the bill to be detected; determining whether at least one smooth area with a size larger than a set scraping size threshold value exists or not, and if so, marking the atleast one smooth area as a scraping area.
