Zusammenfassung: | A device for imaging during a surgical procedure includes an operating room for a surgical procedure; and an MRI for periodically obtaining images during surgery by moving a magnet onto a table. A magnetic wire is formed of a superconducting material such as magnesium diboride that is cooled to superconducting by a vacuum cryogenic cooling system without the use of liquid helium. The weight of themagnet is less than 1 ton, and its footprint is between 15 and 25 square feet, so it can be carried on the floor by a support system having an air cushion covering the bottom region of the magnet with side skirts, thereby dispersing the weight throughout the bottom region. The magnet remains in the operating room during surgery, and the magnet is arranged to be de-energized to close the magneticfield when the magnet is in a second position away from the table.
