The laser solidification apparatus comprises a build platform (102) for supportingthe object (103) and a material bed (104), an optical module (157) comprising a movable guiding element (150) for directing the laser beam (118) to solidify material of the material bed (104), and adetector module (160) comprising a sensor (161) for detecting radiation emitted from the material bed (104) and transmitted to the sensor (161) by the movable guiding element (150) of the optical module (157). The detector module (160) is removably mounted to the optical module (157).
