The preparation method of the honeycomb carbon material comprises the following steps: 1) preparing hollow carbon spheres; 2) mixing the hollow carbon spheres with an activating agent, adding distilled water,grinding and stirring to obtain a mixed product; 3) heating the mixed product to obtain a black product; and 4) washing the black product until the black product becomes neutral, and drying to obtainthe honeycomb-shaped carbon material. Potassium hydroxide is adopted as the activating agent; the mass ratio of the hollow carbon spheres to potassium hydroxide is 1: (1-3); and the prepared honeycomb carbon material can be used as an adsorbent for adsorbing pollutants in water.
