The invention relates to the field of water pump quality detection, and provides a water pump testing system and method. The problem that the water quality condition is greatly different from the field actual condition during water pump detection is solved. The water pump testing system involves a testing assembly and a water circulation loop, wherein the testing assembly comprises but is not limited to one or more of a vibration detection instrument, a temperature instrument, a noise detection instrument, a flow instrument, a conductivity instrument and a pressure instrument; the test assembly is connected with a water pump to be tested; the water circulation loop is connected with the water pump to be tested; and the water circulation loop supplies test water to the water pump to be tested, and the water circulation loop treats the test water used by the water pump to be tested and then reuses the treated water as the test water.
