The sensor (SEN) can continuously detectthe position of the vehicle (V) in a predetermined approach region (A) in front of or in the vehicle treatment system (W). The signal generator (2; 22) can output a signal which changes continuouslyor discretely and corresponds to a continuously changing position of the vehicle (V). In this case, the signalling device (SIG) has at least two lights (4; 24; 26) arranged above one another.
