The invention discloses a method for controlling the growth of filamentous algae in landscape water to increase the ornamental value of the water. The method comprises planting aquatic plants capableof improving the stability of bottom mud of water in the water taking reclaimed water as a supplementary water source, before filamentous algae are positioned at the bottom of the water and float, stocking fry of algal-eating fishes and controlling the quantity of the algal-eating fishes, after the filamentous algae in the water are ingested by the algae-eating fishes, and removing most of the fryin the water, only reserving a small amount of the fry, or removing all fry in the water, so that disturbance of the fishes to bottom mud is reduced, then the transparency of the water is improved, growth of submerged plants is promoted, growth of the filamentous algae and the unicellular algae is inhibited, and the ornamental value of the water is improved.
