POWER SUPPLY TO AC LOADS DURING POWER SOURCE FAILURE IN ELEVATOR SYSTEM

The invention relates to power supply to AC loads during power source failure in an elevator system adn particularly relates to a power management system for an elevator system. A power management system for an elevator system according to an exemplary embodiment of the invention comprises, a power converter having input terminals coupled to an AC power source supplying AC power to the power management system and output terminals coupled to a common DC bus, the power converter configured to convert the AC power from the AC power source into DC power on the common DC bus and vice versa; an AC load coupled to the input terminals of the power converter; a second power source for supplying DC power to the common DC bus; a power inverter configured to invert the DC power on the common DC bus into AC output power for driving an electric motor of the elevator system; and a controller configured to detect a failure of the AC power source and, upon detection of the failure of the AC power source, to control the power
