The phase modifier fault monitoring method comprises the steps of S1, acquiring an infrared imageof a phase modifier in real time; s2, judging whether an abnormal heating part exists in the acquired infrared image or not, if so, measuring the temperature of the abnormal heating part by adopting an infrared thermal thermometer, determining the environment temperature, generating a corresponding infrared image, and entering the step S3, otherwise, entering the step S1; s3, acquiring real-time operation data of electrical equipment corresponding to the abnormal heating part; and S4, determining a fault point and a corresponding fault degree in combination with the infrared image and the real-time operation data, and generating a fault alarm signal.
