Furthermore, the UPS 113 comprises a control unit 7 for closing the bypass switch 6 in case of excessive output current and/or excessive voltage drop and/orexcessive power demand at the UPS output 5 and an override input 14 to inhibit closing the bypass switch 6. Optionally, when a fault arc A is detected, a signal may be sent from a fault arc detectiondevice 15a, 15b to the UPS 1b causing the bypass switch 6 to be held open.
