PARTICULATE MATTER DETECTION SYSTEM

A particulate matter detection system is provided with: a PM sensor (20) that has a detection unit (21) for PM(8); a capacitor (3); a power supply (4); and a voltage measurement unit (5). The detection unit (21) is provided with: a pair of electrodes (2); and a deposition surface (22) which is interposed between the pair of electrodes (2), and on which PM (8) deposits. The capacitor (3) is connected in series with the detection unit (21). The power supply (4) applies a direct-current voltage to a series body (10) that is composed of the detection unit (21) and the capacitor (3), which are connected in series with each other.
