The invention discloses an optical grade PMMA material and a preparation method thereof. The main preparation steps include raw material selection, raw material prepolymerization, prepolymerization slurry treatment, raw material polymerization and post-polymerization treatment. In the preparation of the PMMA by using an intermittent method, a prepolymerization step is added before the polymerization step. While the raw material is preprocessed, a defoaming agent is added to reduce the generation of bubbles in subsequent polymerization steps and improve the quality of the PMMA material. 本发明公开了一种光学级PMMA材料及其制备方法，其主要制备步骤包括原料选取、原料预聚合、预聚合浆料处理、原料聚合和聚合后处理，本发明在使用间歇法在制备PMMA时，将聚合步骤之前增设一个预聚合步骤，在对原料预加工的同时，通过添加消泡剂，减少后续聚合步骤中气泡的产生，增加了PMMA材料的品质。
