The invention relates to the field of data processing, in particular to a method for testing new functions and a terminal. The method comprises the steps: setting a user group identifier of a to-be-tested application package as a first value; installing the to-be-tested application package at a test client to obtain a to-be-tested application program; adding a configuration item corresponding to the first value to a configuration file in an online server; and testing the function corresponding to the configuration item in the to-be-tested application program to obtain a function test result.
