The invention provides a mobile terminal and a light supplementing method thereof. The mobile terminal provided by the invention comprises an image acquisition assembly and a screen assembly. The screen assembly comprises a display panel and a backlight module. The backlight module comprises a backlight source, and the backlight source can emit visible light and infrared light which are independent of each other. The backlight source is used for emitting light through the display panel to form a light supplementing light source when the image acquisition assembly acquires images.
