The panel-gripping part 24 comprises a panel-detecting mechanism 74 for detecting whether a display panel is present in the tray. The panel-detecting mechanism 74 is an optical detection mechanism comprising a light-emitting part 89 that emits light toward a display panel in the tray, and a light-receiving part 90 arranged at a position so as to be capable of receiving light reflected by a display panel.
